Yes, you could say I was a skeptic. I just graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. I just sent my application to 15 different medical schools and at this time my mother was experiencing chest pain. My dad took her to see a cardiologist. He told my parents that my mom would need to have surgery right away because she needed a pacemaker. My dad being the caring person he is, told the doctor that they were going to get a second opinion. The doctor insisted that they schedule the surgery immediately.

A week later, my dad had an appointment for my mom to get a second opinion. That is when I received a call from my dad asking me to go with them to the appointment, and of course I said yes.

The cardiologist was at the University of Oklahoma Teaching Hospital. After examining my mom, the doctor asked my dad and I to come into his office. He informed us that my mom did not need to have surgery for a pacemaker what so ever. He said that my mom’s chest pain was caused by a pinched nerve in her upper back. He asked my dad if he knew a chiropractor and my dad said yes. The doctor advised us to get her under care as soon as possible. I was shocked with what I was hearing; in other words I could not believe it. So I guess you could say I was the biggest skeptic.

Two days later my mom had an appointment with the chiropractor and I was asked to accompany her. The chiropractor did a case history, exam and x-rays. The next day the chiropractor explained everything and showed us the x-rays and explained that my mom had a pinched nerve between her should blades, he gave my mom a treatment and a very mild adjustment. Within two weeks my mom was totally out of pain, she finished her treatment program and the pain has never returned.

Now I was wondering if medical school was right for me. After several sleepless nights I called the chiropractor that was treating my mom and made an appointment to talk to him. He spent the whole afternoon with me explaining chiropractic and answering all my questions. He told me to checkout Palmer College of Chiropractic. The next week I flew to Davenport, Iowa and I was very impressed with the school. I was so excited that I might be able to help someone without surgery. I applied as soon as I got back home. I was accepted and moved to Davenport, Iowa.

During my first semester I received a call from my dad and he told me that I just received a letter of acceptance to medical school and asked me what I wanted to do. I told him that this is what I want to do, to be able to help someone avoid surgery.

Before attending chiropractic college I studied at Central State University for my Bachelor of Science degree in biology. I received my B.S. in 1979, which prepared me for chiropractic school. In 1983 I received the degree that I am most proud of, my Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic.

My Oklahoma City Chiropractic Practice Philosophy and Way Of Life

I continue my education and learning. I do my best to keep up with the latest treatments. I am working on my acupuncture Diplomat. At this time I am a fellow of the American Acupuncture Society. My practice philosophy is simplicity and gentleness in chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture. I utilize the activator technique, diversified technique and micro-current auriculotherapy to the external ear without needles. Patients really like that. It’s painless and very effective for many conditions.

I receive chiropractic care and acupuncture every two weeks for wellness. I workout 3 times a week and this helps me maintain a strong immune system. I am married and love going to the lake, water skiing, fishing, snow skiing, travel and being with family and friends.
